The highlight of any career is a moment when a dream comes true and for Ballina's Jamie Conroy this happened in 2012 at the National Stadium IABA in the Boy 4, 42 kilos championship when he took his 5th successive national title. Jamie is pictured here with his proud parents Michael and Bernie (seated centre front) together with members of the Ballina Boxing Club. In making the presentation at the Merry Monk, Ballina, Joe Lavelle (Treasurer Ballina BC, coach, refereee) stated that it was a joy to watch Jamie in the ring and that he had a very bright future in the sport. For many, sport is a passport to greater things and countless emigrants and immigrants have used their careers in boxing to advantage.
